Joshua 24:15 (Priesthood
Family) 15”…AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD!”
Pretty
simple isn’t it? Not so much as you
might think. There are countless men and
women that go to church and the rest of their household have other plans. This is a commitment that Joshua made in the
face of all of the Israelites shortly before his death. Every time that something would go a little
against Israel, they would start complaining saying how they should go back to
Egypt to live as slaves. That action was
usually followed shortly by some sort of blaspheming. Joshua reminds them of all the things that
the Lord had been on their side about and tells them to serve the Lord. However, if they would not, then they must
choose a side. How much does this
reflect in our own lives? We work so
hard and for what? Money? Cars?
Boats? “Stuff”? What happens when
you have to start working overtime to keep your stuff? Then you have to work on Sunday morning or
Wednesday evening and your church time is cut down drastically? Also what about your personal study time?
What happens then? Wow, I just went off
on a tangent. We need our whole
family to be in one accord on faith matters.
“The family that prays together stays together.” Men, you are the authority figure in your home. Women, you are the man’s helper, (Proverbs
31:10-31) the same way that the structure of a house holds everything up, so does the wife help the husband. If the father and mother,
together, raise kids that love God; then they tell their friends and bring them
to Christ. Then the love of God spreads
like wildfire. YOU HAVE THE BOOK OF ACTS PLAYED OUT BEFORE YOUR EYES!!! This proves the point that nothing is stronger against the enemy
than a family seeking God together.
