Conduit Search

Why do people spend so much time on debating itty bitty little truths about the Bible that really dont matter in the grand scheme of things.  For instance, there is a theory called double predestination.  In this view, God has already chosen who will go to heaven as well as who will go to hell.  The opposite is single destination where God has chosen those that will go to heaven and he did not chose who goes to hell.  For the record, it doesn't matter to me which one is correct.
I wonder if God looks at us and laughs at our silly arguments about what He is thinking or behaving like.  I can tell you THIS!  I know that what we see as a miracle is just another day of Him being God.  Somebody completely changes their lifestyle, kicks drug habits, quits drinking, pursues God's will and we think it some kind of miracle.  He just looks at us and says, "Aint nothin but a thang!  Now tell your friends."
Humans also have their little sayings that protect them from having to seek God.  Stuff like, "God would NEVER say anything apart from what is written in Scripture!"  Hmm....Really?  The book of Leviticus is all about being clean and not unclean.  Things that you touched could make you unclean also.  Now fast forward many, many years to Ezekiel's time.  In Ezekiel 4, the word of the Lord came to Ezekiel telling him to cook barley cakes using human feces for fuel.  Don't you think that would make Ezekiel unclean and therefore breaking the Law set up in Leviticus?  God does not fit in any box that we try to trap Him in.  When you attempt to do that, you basically make an idol out of Him which means he has to be in one place and not another.  The commandment that says dont make yourself an idol can also be Him saying, "Don't try and make Me manageable.  I don't fit any description that you can think of!" Simple fact is this: if you can imagine it, God's bigger than that.  Let me say it this way: "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:9)
PRESSING ON!  What do you think happens when non believers see us bickering over stuff like the predestination thing?  OR What happens to the person that's right next to us with a real problem that they need wisdom for and the "Man/Woman of God" is too busy in their petty debate to see their hurt and give them the wisdom of God and strength to continue in their situation that only He can provide.  God says in Exodus 19:6 that we are to be a kingdom of priests.  What do priests do?  They help the poor, comfort the afflicted, and teach the Word of God.  How does that have anything to do with debating about something that you really arent that sure about.  Some call themselves righteous because of what they dont do and how much they know.  God doesn't care how much you know.  He still knows more AND when you are ministering to someone, what you know is not coming out of your mouth.  The Holy Spirit is the one teaching them through you.  That's the point, we have to be submissive conduits for Him to work through.  We have to show the world what God looks like!  Does he look like senseless bickering?  Prideful Humanism?  NO, He is the compassionate, gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love and forgiveness God that does not treat us as our iniquities deserve but has mercy that is new every morning.  People are DYING to know this side of God.  To put it simply: BE KIND!  Be kind to the wait staff that mess up your order.  Be kind to the slowest cashier at the grocery store.
I dont want you to think that I am trying to beat anybody up by all of this.  My goal is to show needless debating from another perspective.  There are many better ways that you can use all that ability to talk.  I love you and I thank you for taking the time to read the ramblings of a back woods Georgia boy.  God Bless you and as usual, GRACE AND PEACE BE WITH YOU ALWAYS!
