Be ready in season and out of season!

2 Timothy 4:2 "Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching."

If you are a new Christian and are just learning about God and what is in the Bible, I am not shaking my finger at you.  You could think of this as a warning against complacency.  I understand that it takes time to learn the Word.  I am still learning sooooo much myself after several years.
If we are going to attempt to bring the Word of God to the world we need to be ready at any time of day, night, week, year, etc.  If the day ends with the word "day", then you had better be prepared.  You could come upon someone needing encouragement or guidance at any moment.  As I can personally attest to, God does not keep a watch.  He invented time itself and is not bound by its limitations.  Given that fact, you should also know that God will speak to you, use you for stuff, etc at any time of day or night.

Lets say that you go to Home Depot.  You have this thing that popped off your sink and you need a replacement.  You have heard about it before but aren't quite sure what in the world it is or what it does.  For that matter, you could not like the way that it works to begin with.  You go into the plumbing department and see someone whose name tag says that they work in the plumbing department.  You approach them and ask about your item for your sink.  They have no clue what it is, what it does, or what it goes to.  You might as well have brought them a physics word problem written in Sanskrit.  As you might imagine, in this example the Plumbing dept. associate is the Christian.  We wear that badge with honor.  Someone (baby Christian or nonbeliever) approaches us with a question about how salvation works, why God would want to save them, or something like that.  Then you come back with no answer what so ever.  (Back to the Home Depot analogy) You would never want to ask that "associate" anything ever again.  That might even make it where you dont even go to that "store" anymore.  Instead you go to some place that is going to try and sell you whatever just to "make a sale and get your money".  Then if a knowledgeable person sees them on the way out and tries to help them, the are more likely to shrug them off and leave the area without receiving the help they need.
Satan is trying everything in his power to keep those that are looking for answers from finding Truth (John 14:6) and people with the Truth from finding those that might not know it. We do not need to help him out with that whatsoever.  How can we combat that?  By doing what Paul wrote in the second letter to Timothy.  Be ready in any season.  Firemen, police officers, and athletes have to practice their skills so that they are effective in their job descriptions.  As Christians and members of the Body of Christ, it is VITAL that we keep our skills sharp as well.  If you have trouble studying on your own, find someone that doesn't.  Ask for help. Hebrews 10:24-25 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another.  We are encouraged and commanded to get together and study the Word.
Be steady and keep on keepin on.  1 Peter 5:8 tells us to be sober and vigilant.  Keep a clear head and stay on your guard for your self and those around you.                                                                                            Grace and Peace Be with you ALWAYS!!!
