No Condemnation

What do you do when you are reminded of the past things that you have done?  Do you just ignore them so that they'll go away? Do you (like me) try and strain to get them out of your brain as if you can pass them like last night's supper?  Yes, its a little graphic of a description but bear with me, there's some good stuff here.  I do not care who you are, where you are from or what your past is like.  You do not have to live captive to the memory of those poor choices.  Let me ask you this: If you travel constantly towards the east, will you ever find west?  That is how far God has removed our transgressions from us (Psalm 103:12).  I know that scripture is used alot for this kind of a situation.  I never want to be the same old same old so I'll give you another one.  Let's just state the fact that God has a memory that is as perfect as everything else about him.  Then what on earth would make Him forget something?  In Isaiah 65:16, God says that he has forgotten your former troubles.   If God has forgotten them, and loves us unconditionally anyway, why do we always try and tell Him that those former forgotten troubles are the reasons that we are unlovable?  He did everything that He had to do to bring us back to Him.  The law was fufilled, Jesus died as the sacrifice necessary to settle the debt owed by sinful men, and the Holy Spirit is still here to guide us and tell us the will of the Father when we need it (NOT when we want it).  As some one that is as flawed as anybody else, and more that many, I am here to tell you that there is NO condemnation in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1) and that we have been made a new creation upon receipt of salvation (2 Corinthians 5:17).  The enemy is going to try and remind you of every single bad thing that you've ever done, ESPECIALLY THE BIG ONES! Never let anyone tell you that your past can keep you from happiness.  We are humans and therefore imperfect so we will mess up from time to time. It is the grace of God that gives us the ability to move past that. It is at that point that you must be able to remind yourself of the ways that God loves you and that you are fearfully and wonderfully made.  NO ONE CAN CHANGE THAT!!!
NOW FOR SOME BALANCE!  Let me be very clear on something.  If you charged up a large debt, you must pay it back.  I am not saying that over night it's gonna disappear.  Miracles have happened, but you must keep track of whether the miracle happened or not.  And besides, if your paying that back makes it where you can not afford some other bad habit that you have, then it's all for your good anyway right?  If your mistake resulted in the birth of a child, then you have the responsibility and privilege of raising that child to know, love, and walk in relationship with God.
All of this comes back to the point that no matter what you've done in the past, once you come into relationship with God, your sins are forgiven and FORGOTTEN!  Furthermore, God can use your past circumstances to further glorify Him self and expand His Kingdom.
Grace and Peace be with you ALWAYS!
