The Lord has been speaking to me lately about my faith. I have to say, to the glory of God, my faith has blow-uptuated recently. Even still, I have a difficult time with it in the face of everything that I have seen. Therefore, I know that many many people struggle with their faith as well. It is with that thought in mind that I take this opportunity to stick it to the enemy once again.
For a long time, I wondered: What does a mustard seed have to do with God? Then I heard the explanation of what happens to a mustard seed when it's planted. It is the smallest of seeds and yet it grows to ten feet or more! Therefore, in Matthew chapter 17, Jesus is saying that if you have even the smallest of faith and do not doubt God, then your small amount of faith will yield the largest of results. Time and time again, Jesus had people coming up to him asking and begging for Him to heal them. His only question was, "Do you believe that I can do this?" In the case of the Canaanite woman with the demon-possessed daughter, Jesus at first refused to do anything for her until she proved her belief that He could do just this small thing even though she was a Canaanite and He was a Jew. The point here is that we have to forget about what our flesh is telling us, what other people say, what the world says and just let God do his God-thing. Isaiah 30:18 says that He longs to be gracious to us. Jeremiah 29:11 says that his plan is not to harm us and to give us a hope and a future. We just have to get out of the way and have faith in God's word. Currently, I am in hot pursuit of an awesome job that I can stick with for a career. I keep having to remind myself that I have done all that I can do to affect the outcome. Its time for me to step back and not try to do it myself. Consider David. This man had a prophet speak over him when he was in his very early teenage years. It took FIFTEEN years for the prophecy to come true. Before it came true, King Saul was trying to kill him repeatedly. Saul's worst fear turned out to be true. God's blessing was on David, because Saul did many things against the Law of God. Such as not showing faith when he was waiting on Samuel and the Philistines were after him. David was faithful with very little when he was tending sheep in the field. He was faithful when Saul asked him to slay the enemies of Saul. David was even faithful when he returned to Ziklag to find it burned and all of his and his soldiers' wives and kids taken captive. Just to show what can be the reward for faith, when David was praying after he discovered Ziklag's demise King Saul was being killed on the battle field and an Amalekite (enemy of Israel) brought him Saul's crown. Basically my point is not to look at the world around you from your point of view. Get in the Word, find out what God says about you and your future. If you obey him, at the proper time God will exalt you. (1 Peter 5) Furthermore, this is where your spiritual armor comes into play. If you start to think that you aren't good enough for what you have to do, You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Get in the word, build up your faith to protect yourself from those fiery darts. Seek FIRST the kingdom of God AND His righteousness, and all these things (clothes, food, etc.) will be added unto you! (Matthew 6:33) Grace and Peace be among you.
Oh, I almost forgot. When you get in an undesirable situation, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY!! Death and life lie in the power of your tongue. (Proverbs 18:21)
