Romans 8:31 …If God
is with us then who shall stand against us?
I
have to say that I serve a BIG God!
There are things in my life that I can point to that proves just how big
that He actually is. For example, I
prayed for a wife and I got her, He has protected me in my stupidity, and delivered me from those that
wanted to hurt me. He created Heaven and
Earth simply with words coming from his mouth.
Have you ever seen a man do something like that? I haven’t.
Therefore, if there are men (as in members of mankind) that are trying to contend with the blessing that God has placed on one of his obedient children, what chance do they have?
They may succeed in the temporary, but when they are cast in to the lake
of fire for messing with the children of God, that is where justice comes to
him. We are to be steadfast in our faith
and humble ourselves before God and He will exalt us in due time (1 Peter
5:6-9).
This covers so many areas of our lives as people in the world, ESPECIALLY with the economy the way it is. I can tell you from personal experience that the world system ain't got nothing on the power of God. In 2008, I lost my place to live, I was laid off twice in 4 months, all my bills got behind and destroyed my credit. I can tell you that I was DEFINITELY NOT living for God then. I spent the next nearly four years doing everything in my power to get back out of the valley that I had for the most part dug for myself. Yes, I said everything in MY power to get out of the crap that I was in. After I moved back to Georgia from Daytona Beach, FL in May 2011, my life was turned up side down and trampled on (in a good way) and I started living for God instead of myself. I can tell you that the changes have been... well I know of very few words in the English language that can describe it. I think cataclysmic would do here. The point that I am trying to make here is that a boy that grew up being raised by a Jehovah's Witness and a heathen is in church and living for God and walking as close as he possibly can to his Word. I was living in the world system and it sucked! I started living for God, and He has blessed my socks off. Am I rich? Not monetarily. Do I have everything that I need? ABSOLUTELY!!! He provided me with a job when I needed one as soon as I got back from Florida, He sent me through an encounter with Him that I will never forget, he put me back in the first church that I had ever called home to find drastic changes made and His kingdom advancing.
The other thing that this section of Scripture pertains to is life and death, as in your physical body. Let's say that you and your significant other, both God fearing people with your salvation intact and living every day for God, and you are mugged and killed. I know its kind of a bummer but stick with me. What happens next? You get to meet Jesus! Paul wrote to the church in Corinth, "Where O death is your victory, where O death is your sting?" (1 Corinthians 15:55) We have eternal life past the expiration date of our fleshly bodies. So who cares if somebody does something to us? They are only human, but God IS a miracle worker. This brings me back to the faith thing. Put your faith in Him and you will see blessings fall on you like torrential rains. He provided salvation for me. Lying, cheating, and stealing (among other things) Brian received salvation. If He can provide salvation for somebody like I was, what in existence makes you think that He is incapable of doing anything else that he sets His divine mind to?
