4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails.
Love is the most wonderful emotion that you can ever feel. It heals, delivers and brings those apart back together. 1 John 4:16 says that God is love. So if you put God in the place of love in the scripture above, we see that God is not a brooding eternal torturer, but a tender loving father that longs to be with us and bless us. God thinks no evil and He does not rejoice in injustice. He doesn't have an ego problem. He had His son become the sin of the world so that we could have a relationship with Him. He hasn't given up on a single person that is alive. As long as they still have the mind to make a decision to come to Him. God LOVES YOU!!! Nobody that you have ever met can EVER love you any more than God can. I have come to that realization in the last few months. Of course, I heard it for a long time but I know for a fact that it's true now. If you want a picture of the love that God has for us, read Psalm 23. He overflows our cup (blessings), he lets us lie down in green pastures (we are able to rest), He prepares a table for us in the presence of our enemies (victory celebration in the presence of our defeated enemies). Glory to God! That's a powerful promise!
The really crazy part is that because we were made in His likeness, we are to extend that same love to everyone. I know its hard to do. I struggle with it too. Try telling someone (not just your significant other, parents, etc.) that you love them. You might get a better reaction from people when you talk to them. The Word is Love. Spread the word today and from now on, Lord knows we could use some more love in this world.
